Spain’s star tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has once again claimed the US Open title. After an intense four-set battle, he defeated Italian opponent Jannik Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
The men’s final at New York’s Arthur Ashe Stadium was delayed by half an hour due to heightened security measures following the presence of US President Donald Trump.
In the final, Alcaraz showcased powerful serves and aggressive net play, quickly taking the lead in the first and third sets. Sinner made a thrilling comeback in the second set, but Alcaraz’s strategy and skill ultimately secured his victory.
With this win, 22-year-old Alcaraz has now won six Grand Slam titles, making him the second-youngest player to reach this milestone after Bjorn Borg.
This victory also allowed Alcaraz to claim the world No. 1 ranking from Sinner. At the final moment, he celebrated his win with a 131 mph ace.
Although Sinner couldn’t perform at his peak throughout the match, he saved two championship points. Alcaraz sealed the win on his third opportunity.
Through this final, Alcaraz and Sinner have an equal share of the four major tournaments in 2025: Alcaraz with victories at the French Open and US Open, and Sinner with wins at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
After the match, Alcaraz said, “I see you even more than my family. Playing against you on the court is truly amazing.”
