Mamootty’s real name is Muhammad Kutty Panaparambil Ismail. He was born in a middle-class Muslim family in Chempu village, Kaim district, Kerala. He made his acting debut in 1971 and has also worked in Tollywood, Tamil, and Hindi films. His son Dulqar Salman is currently one of the most popular actors in Malayalam cinema.
