Bangladesh showed dominance with the bat on the first day of the Mirpur Test, but could not maintain the momentum on the second day. Losing wickets at regular intervals put the hosts under pressure. Experienced batter Mushfiqur Rahim tried to build resistance from one end. In the end, Bangladesh were bowled out for 413 runs, thanks to a late explosive cameo by Taskin Ahmed.
On Saturday morning, Bangladesh resumed the second day at 301 for 4. Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das were at the crease. Both started confidently and played disciplined cricket. Mushfiq completed his 29th Test half-century with a slow and steady innings.
However, the partnership was broken at 338 runs. Liton Das was dismissed for 33 runs off 67 balls. Soon after, Mehidy Hasan Miraz was also sent back after scoring only 10 runs.
Despite wickets falling around him, Mushfiq continued patiently. He was later joined by Taijul Islam, but Taijul was dismissed for 17 runs just before lunch.
After the lunch break, Mushfiq could not stay long either. He was dismissed after scoring a responsible 71 runs off 179 balls. His innings included several elegant boundaries and showed great composure under pressure.
After his dismissal, Bangladesh’s batting collapse became more evident. Ebadot Hossain was out without scoring. However, Taskin Ahmed pushed the team past 400 with a quick cameo of 28 runs off just 19 balls.
Eventually, Bangladesh were all out for 413 runs in their first innings. Mohammad Abbas was the most successful bowler for Pakistan, taking five wickets and breaking Bangladesh’s batting lineup.
Earlier on the first day, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto scored a brilliant century. He made 101 runs off 130 balls, including 12 fours and 2 sixes. Another batter, Mominul Haque, scored 91 runs but missed his century.
