Neymar, who has been out of the national team due to a long-term injury, is expected to be included in Brazil’s preliminary World Cup squad. However, his place in the final squad is not yet confirmed. New coach Carlo Ancelotti will continue to monitor his physical condition until the last moment, according to Brazilian media.

Neymar suffered a serious injury in October 2023 during a match against the Uruguay national football team. Since then, he has been absent from the national team due to a long rehabilitation process. He has not been included in any squad announced under Ancelotti.

However, Brazilian media reports say that he will be included in the 55-man preliminary squad submitted under FIFA rules. Young talent Estevão Willian, who is currently gaining attention in European club football, will also be included.

According to FIFA regulations, participating countries must submit a preliminary squad of 35 to 55 players by May 11. This list will not be made public but will be used for replacements in case of injury.

Later, by June 1, teams must submit a final squad of 23 to 26 players. Only players from the preliminary list can be used as replacements.

Brazil fans will be most focused on May 18, when coach Ancelotti is expected to announce the final squad. If Neymar regains full fitness, he may still secure a place in the World Cup squad.

Meanwhile, Chelsea-bound Estevão is recovering from a hamstring injury and is currently using Palmeiras’ medical facilities.

Brazil has also suffered setbacks as Ederson Militão and Rodrygo from Real Madrid are confirmed to be out of the World Cup due to injuries.

Analysts say Neymar’s experience and leadership could be important for Brazil, but his final inclusion depends entirely on his fitness and match readiness.
