Two Arrested in Killing of Five Members of Same Family in Kapasia

Police have arrested two people in connection with the killing of five members of the same family in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur. The bodies were recovered from a rented house in Rautkona village on Saturday morning. Since the incident, the head of the family, Forkan Mia, has been absconding and is considered the prime suspect.

The deceased are Forkan Mia’s wife Sharmin, their three daughters—Mim, Mariya, and Fariha—and Sharmin’s younger brother Rasel Mia.

Police said preliminary investigation suggests the killings may have been caused by family disputes. Two individuals linked to Forkan Mia’s car business have been detained for questioning, though their identities have not been disclosed.

Locals said the family was seen normal until Friday night, but on Saturday morning police were informed after blood-stained bodies were found inside the house.

Eyewitnesses said the children’s bodies were lying side by side on the floor, while Sharmin’s body was found near a window with her hands and mouth tied.

Shahinur Alam said Forkan Mia had been renting the house for about a year. From the beginning of the investigation, family disputes have come to light. Police are conducting raids to arrest the main suspect.

Ashfaq Uzzaman said the bodies are being prepared for autopsy at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue. A detailed investigation into the cause of the killings has begun.

The incident has created panic and grief in the entire area. Locals have demanded swift arrest and strict punishment of the accused.
