The BNP has filed a fresh complaint at the International Criminal Tribunal alleging that 2,276 of its leaders and activists were abducted, disappeared, or killed in crossfire incidents.
BNP central committee member and coordinator for disappearance, murder, and legal cases Mohammad Salahuddin Khan submitted the complaint to the tribunal’s chief prosecutor on Monday.
The complaint states that between 2008 and August 5, 2024, numerous BNP leaders and activists were victims of enforced disappearances and killings, including the case of missing leader Ilias Ali.
The party had earlier filed a similar complaint on January 9, 2025, but claims there has been little progress in investigation, prompting the new submission.
The new complaint also accuses former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and members of law enforcement agencies of involvement in systematic enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.
BNP said the renewed application was submitted to ensure justice and speed up the long-delayed investigation process at the International Criminal Tribunal.
