Bus search in Comilla: Two arrested with firearms and ammunition

Highway police conducted a search on a passenger bus in Comilla and arrested two individuals with a foreign pistol, two magazines, and a bullet. The operation took place on Monday at 9 PM at Madhaiya Bus Station in Chandina Upazila on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.

Police received secret information and searched an Asia Aircon bus heading to Dhaka from Comilla. The arrested individuals are Habibur Rahman Shakil (33) from Monairkandi village, Sonargaon, Narayanganj, and Mohammad Chishti (42) from Laxmankhola area, Bandar.

OC Ruhul Amin of Elliotganj Highway Thana said the firearms were likely brought from the Comilla border area toward the capital. Investigations are ongoing regarding the source and purpose of the weapons. Relevant legal proceedings have been initiated.
