Burial of Child Sajid Completed After Tragic Fall Into Tube-Well Pit in Tanore

Following the tragic death of two-year-old Sajid, who fell into a deep tube-well pit in Tanore, Rajshahi, his burial was completed today (Friday, 12 December) at 11 am at the family graveyard in Koelhat village.

Earlier, his funeral prayer was held at 10:30 am in front of his home, attended by thousands of locals grieving the child’s sudden death. The prayer was led by local Mawlana Kazi Mizanur Rahman, who said afterward, “Negligence must not take another child’s life. Everyone must act responsibly.”

Sajid’s father, Rakibul Islam, tearfully asked for prayers for his son’s soul. He said, “People have prayed for two days. I ask for one more prayer for my Sajid.”

He also alleged, “My child died due to someone else’s negligence. I demand justice from the authorities.”

On Wednesday (10 December), Sajid fell into a deep pit dug for installing a tube-well near his house. After a 33-hour long rescue operation, the fire service rescued him Thursday night, but doctors at the hospital declared him dead.

The incident has cast a shadow of sorrow over the entire area, and locals have demanded stronger safety measures to prevent such tragedies.
