Border Operation by BGB, 237 Cattle and 42 Buffaloes Seized

At the Goainhat border in Sylhet, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized the largest illegal shipment of Indian cattle and buffaloes to date.

On Wednesday (October 8) early morning, based on secret intelligence, the Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) conducted a special operation in the Itachuki area of Rustampur Union and recovered 237 Indian cattle.

On the same day, the Lafarge BOP patrol team, in a separate operation near the Dayertuk area of Dwarabazar Upazila in Sunamganj, seized 42 Indian buffaloes.

According to BGB sources, the estimated market value of the seized livestock is approximately 30 million taka. Authorities stated that this is the largest shipment of cattle and buffaloes recovered from the border area so far.

Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Haque, commander of the Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB), said, “BGB personnel are maintaining the highest level of vigilance to prevent smuggling at the border. This large-scale seizure was possible due to regular intelligence monitoring and proactive operations.”

He further added that preparations are underway to hand over the seized livestock through legal procedures.
