PNN News Desk: Dhaka
For the upcoming national elections, BNP has finalized separate election plans targeting different sectors of society. According to party sources, seven topic-based posters will be released, covering women, education, health, agriculture, and other key issues from the election manifesto.
Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of BNP’s Standing Committee, told Prothom Alo that the manifesto’s main issues ensure citizens’ rights and facilities. The preparation of the manifesto has already begun, incorporating BNP’s 31-point plan, the July Charter, and recent political directions.
The manifesto will focus on restructuring governance, restoring democracy, judicial independence, decentralizing administration, protecting human rights, and strengthening anti-corruption frameworks. Other key areas include free elections, voting under a neutral government, Election Commission independence, freedom of speech, transparent administration, and national economic recovery.
Special commitments have been made for different groups, including religious scholars, minority communities, youth, farmers, women, and senior citizens. These include modernization of Qawmi madrasas, property protection for minorities, state support for festivals, and measures to prevent communal attacks.
For youth, the plan includes creating one million new jobs, a startup fund, IT training, overseas labor opportunities, and an anti-drug task force. For farmers, the manifesto promises cheaper agricultural inputs, fair pricing, easier credit, and transparent procurement of rice and paddy. Women’s safety, equal workplace opportunities, female entrepreneurship funds, maternity allowances, and fast-track tribunals for gender-based violence are included.
The official manifesto will be formally published after the election schedule is announced. BNP leaders expect that the combined approach of the 31-point plan, July Charter, and group-specific commitments will energize their campaign.
Yesterday, a Standing Committee meeting was held under the acting chairman Tarique Rahman, who joined virtually from London. Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, and other members participated.
