Leaders and activists of the BNP and its associate organizations have declared Nasiruddin Patwary, the Chief Coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP), persona non grata in his home district of Chandpur.

On Wednesday (August 19) afternoon, Advocate Salim Ullah Salim, General Secretary of the District BNP, made this declaration at a rally organized on the founding anniversary of the Jatiyatabadi Jobo Dal / Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal in Chandpur town.

BNP leaders stated that this decision was taken against him because they deemed statements made by Nasiruddin Patwary regarding top BNP leaders to be 'indecent' and contrary to political courtesy.

Speaking at the rally, Salim Ullah Salim said that the comments made by Nasiruddin Patwary concerning senior party leaders, including BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman and Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, do not fall within the bounds of political courtesy. Registering a protest against such statements, he is being declared persona non grata in Chandpur.

He added that political differences of opinion may exist. However, while expressing dissent, it is necessary to maintain political decorum and courtesy. He called for conducting political debates through argument-based and constructive criticism instead of personal attacks or indecent statements.

Speakers at the rally also called for the rejection of Jamaat-e-Islami. They stated that all political parties must play a responsible role in the country's political climate by respecting the aspirations of the people and democratic values.

Earlier, a colorful rally was brought out in Chandpur town to mark the founding anniversary of the Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal. Leaders and activists of the BNP, Swechchhasebak Dal, and associate organizations participated in it. After parading through various streets of the town, the rally concluded in front of the District BNP office, where the anniversary meeting was held.

Meanwhile, declaring Nasiruddin Patwary persona non grata in Chandpur is not an isolated incident. Earlier, in September 2025, leaders and activists of the BNP and its associate organizations in Shahrasti Upazila of the district had also declared him persona non grata.
