At the International Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Conference held at Suhrawardy Udyan, Dhaka, BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed stated that if BNP comes to power, the constitutional phrase “complete trust and faith in Almighty Allah,” which was included during Ziaur Rahman’s time, will be restored.
Speaking as the chief speaker at the conference on Saturday afternoon, he emphasized that divisions and weaknesses within the Muslim Ummah have led to persecution and massacres of Muslims in various parts of the world, including Palestine and Arakan. He stressed the importance of Muslim unity.
Salahuddin Ahmed said, “Insha’Allah, if the people entrust us with the responsibility of running the country and all classes of ulema and political leaders cooperate, we will take legal initiatives to implement all the demands raised today.”
During his speech, some attendees demanded that he declare the Ahmadiyyas (‘Qadianis’) as non-Muslims, causing a brief commotion.
In response, Salahuddin Ahmed said, “The language you are asking me to use is not legal. All decisions will be made through parliamentary discussion and legal procedures. For this, the unity of Muslims across the country is necessary.”
He assured that BNP will take the necessary steps to implement the proposals raised at the conference.
The conference, held throughout the afternoon at Suhrawardy Udyan, was attended by ulema, Islamic pirs, and a large number of followers from across the country.
