Those Who Betray the People Will Have Nowhere to Escape: Hasnat Abdullah in Jashore

National Citizen Party (NCP) Southern Region Chief Organizer and Member of Parliament Hasnat Abdullah has said that no political leader can survive after betraying the trust of the people. He warned that anyone who acts against the expectations of the public will ultimately be held accountable on the soil of Bangladesh.

He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the "July March and Street Rally" held on Friday (July 24) at the old bus stand area of Noapara in Abhaynagar Upazila of Jashore.

Addressing the gathering, Hasnat Abdullah said the country's politics should be centered on public welfare rather than the pursuit of power. He alleged that instead of building an economy driven by production and employment, successive policies have encouraged long-term unemployment through various assistance-based programs.

He emphasized that Bangladesh needs a productive, employment-oriented state structure capable of creating sustainable jobs rather than relying primarily on welfare initiatives.

He further stated that if citizens consciously exercise their voting rights and recognize the value of their votes, elected representatives will inevitably remain accountable to the people. According to him, the proper use of voting rights is the foundation of a transparent and accountable political system.

The NCP leader also stressed the importance of women's participation in politics. He noted that although women constitute a significant portion of the country's population, their representation at policymaking levels remains inadequate.

He said women should not only participate in political activities but should also have equal opportunities in decision-making processes. According to him, active participation by women is essential for building a balanced, inclusive, and democratic state.

The meeting was chaired by Shahjan Kabir, Chief Coordinator of the National Citizen Party.

Among the special guests were Sarwar Tushar, Joint Convener of the NCP; Mahmuda Alam Mitu, Joint Chief Organizer for the Southern Region and Member of Parliament; Ali Ahsan Junayed, Central Joint Convener; Faridul Haque, Khulna Divisional Organizing Secretary; and Md. Nuruzzaman, Coordinator of the Jashore District Unit.

Leaders and activists from both the central and local levels also attended the program.

Speakers at the rally called for strengthening the organization at the grassroots level, increasing public engagement, and promoting national development through participatory politics.
