Former Bangladesh national cricket team player and ex-Awami League MP Shakib Al Hasan has wished former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted during the student-led mass uprising, on her birthday. On Sunday night, he wrote on his verified Facebook page, “Happy Birthday Apa,” and shared a photo with Hasina.
However, following Shakib’s post, Youth & Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud responded with a post stating, “You all cursed me thousands of times for not reinstating someone. But I was right.” Shakib later replied, expressing his regret at not being able to play for Bangladesh.
Shakib faced sharp criticism from netizens for wishing Hasina a happy birthday. Some labeled him as an “Awami supporter” or “traitor,” while others questioned why he showed such kindness to a person known for alleged acts of genocide.
