In the Bridgetown Test, the visiting Australian cricket team secured a commanding win over the West Indies by 159 runs, wrapping up the match in just three days. The early batting struggles of both teams in the first innings hinted at a quick finish, and that proved true.
Chasing Australia’s target of 301 runs, the West Indies were bowled out for 141 runs. Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood was the standout bowler, taking 5 wickets for 43 runs. For the West Indies, Shemar Joseph scored a top score of 44 runs, while Justin Greaves remained unbeaten on 38, and opener John Campbell contributed 23 runs.
Australia’s strong batting in the second innings laid the foundation for their victory, as they posted 310 runs, bolstered by three half-centuries. Alex Carey led the charge with 65 runs, supported by Beau Webster’s 63 and Travis Head’s 61.
Earlier, Australia was all out for 180 runs in their first innings, giving West Indies a slender lead of 10 runs after they scored 190 runs. However, Australia’s resilient second innings performance more than made up for the deficit.
Travis Head was named Man of the Match for his valuable contributions: a 59-run half-century in the first innings and a crucial 61-run knock in the second innings.
