Attack on Mobile Court Convoy in Kapasia, Gazipur; Investigation Committee Formed

An attack occurred on a mobile court convoy in Giaspur Bazar of Barishab Union, Kapasia Upazila, Gazipur. The incident took place on Monday afternoon during an operation at Jhomjhom Mini Petrol Pump.

Gazipur District Executive Magistrate Simon Sarkar was conducting operations at various petrol pumps in Kapasia and Kaliganj Upazilas. During the inspection at Jhomjhom Petrol Pump, the management failed to provide valid documents, and fuel quality tests revealed substandard oil. The magistrate collected fuel samples for further testing and issued the necessary instructions and undertakings.

However, Faruq, the brother of the pump owner, obstructed the collection of fuel samples and incited the gathered crowd. Encouraged by him, some individuals attacked the magistrate’s convoy. The attack resulted in a car window being broken and another vehicle being struck with a local weapon.

Upon receiving the report, OC of Kapasia Police Station, Abdur Rab, arrived at the scene, coordinated with the magistrate, and brought the situation under control. Later, Additional Superintendent of Police Asaduzzaman from Kaliganj Circle conducted the operation. He stated that during the operation, various documents, goods, and cash were seized. Faruq was arrested, and an investigation committee has been formed by the administration.

Although the local administration took swift measures to restore calm, the attack has raised concerns regarding law and order in the area.
