India secured a convincing victory in the Delhi Test by 7 wickets. Chasing a modest target of 121 runs, India sealed the win at just 58 runs. Although they lost 2 wickets on the way, it did not pose any serious challenge for the team.
At the end of the fourth day, India was 63/1, with Lokesh Rahul unbeaten on 58 and Suryakumar Yadav on 39. On the fifth day, India only needed 58 runs to complete the chase, but lost Yadav and captain Shubman Gill along the way.
Suryakumar Yadav was caught at slip off the bowling of Roach for 39, and Gill was dismissed for 13 after offering a catch in the air. Lokesh Rahul remained steadfast at the crease, ensuring India’s victory.
This was a significant series win for India as it marked Shubman Gill’s first series victory as captain. It also ensured India’s 10th consecutive series win against the West Indies. In the first Test, West Indies were dismissed for 140 in their innings, but they performed better in Delhi. Despite centuries from John Campbell and Shai Hope in the second innings, West Indies could not set a big target.
