After the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) requested bank account details, former adviser of the interim government and National Citizens Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiya revealed information on nine bank accounts belonging to himself and family members, totaling approximately BDT 1.55 million.

During a press conference on Wednesday evening at the NCP’s temporary central office in Banglamotor, he provided the details. He said he has two accounts in his name: one savings account with 9,930 BDT, and a salary account opened while in government, which saw BDT 8.581 million deposited over 16 months, with BDT 0.7603 million withdrawn. Currently, the total in his two accounts is BDT 978,556.

His father has five accounts totaling BDT 547,711, with BDT 639,746 remaining on a 1 million BDT service loan. His mother’s account has 21,154 BDT, and his wife’s account has 613 BDT.

Asif Mahmud said he had previously submitted full income and asset declarations when resigning from the interim government, but released the bank details again to address orchestrated media campaigns against him.

He also referred to historical political events and past corruption allegations against late Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, asserting that despite misleading statements by media or others, the public can discern the truth.

NCP central leaders attended the press conference. Asif Mahmud stated he remains committed to transparency and accountability, and is prepared for any political investigation.
