Expressing concern over the existing problems in technical education, Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon issued a strict warning. He said that if the current situation continues, both students and stakeholders will face failure in examinations.

On Saturday morning (April 11), he attended an event at Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute and directly spoke with students and listened to their complaints.

Students complained that irregular classes, lack of modern equipment, and shortage of skilled teachers have severely affected the quality of education. A mechanical department student said that due to outdated laboratory equipment, practical learning opportunities are almost nonexistent.

When asked, a concerned teacher said that classes are still being conducted in infrastructure built many years ago. Due to insufficient machinery, maintaining quality practical education has become difficult.

Another student expressed dissatisfaction regarding internships, saying that although industrial training is part of the curriculum, many students are not getting opportunities. The institution authorities said that many industries are not willing to accept students.

The education minister said that despite agreements between the government and the industrial sector, it will be investigated why students are not getting opportunities. He also said that action will be taken against responsible parties if necessary.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving technical education, the minister said that funding is not a problem, but effective planning and proper implementation are essential. He assured that problems will be identified and resolved step by step.
