In Kotalipara Upazila of Gopalganj, a village police officer named Mumin Gazi (26) was reportedly assaulted for intervening in a drug sale. Mumin Gazi has filed a complaint with the Kotalipara Police Station regarding the incident.
The incident took place on Monday night (October 13) in South Hiron village of Kotalipara Upazila. Mumin Gazi serves as a village police officer in Ward No. 6 of Hiron Union and is the son of Md. Mujibur Gazi of Barshapara village. A few days ago, a man named Hridoy Haque Rabbi (28) attempted to sell drugs but was stopped by Mumin Gazi. Angered by this, Rabbi, along with his cousin, Saudi-based Moshiur Rahman Molla, attacked Mumin Gazi near the South Hiron Bridge.
Mumin Gazi said, "I stopped Rabbi from selling drugs with the help of some locals. Then, on Monday, while I was returning home from the council, Rabbi came with his cousin Moshiur Rahman and assaulted me."
Attempts to contact Rabbi’s family at their home were unsuccessful. However, Rabbi’s uncle, Jabed Molla, stated, "Mumin Gazi had previously disrupted my nephew Rabbi’s marriage in Barshapara village, so in anger, Rabbi slapped Mumin a few times. We are trying to resolve this issue socially."
SI Al-Amin of Kotalipara Police Station said, "We have received the complaint. A prompt investigation will be conducted, and legal action will be taken."
