According to the daily bulletin issued on Tuesday (June 17) by the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the total number of dengue hospitalizations this year has reached 6,466, with 30 fatalities recorded to date.
So far in June alone, 2,121 new cases have been reported, with 7 deaths attributed to dengue infection during the first 17 days of the month.
The DGHS bulletin also highlighted a gender distribution among patients: 59.2% male and 40.8% female. Over the last 24 hours, 209 patients recovered and were discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries in 2025 to 5,698.
To combat the rising threat, the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has launched awareness campaigns in schools and colleges. The initiative aims to educate students, destroy Aedes mosquito breeding sites, and encourage cleanliness across educational institutions.
Public health experts warn that the ongoing monsoon season may exacerbate the spread of dengue. Citizens have been urged to keep homes and surroundings clean, and to remain vigilant about standing water, which serves as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
