11-party alliance announces series of programs from April 18 to May 2 for implementing July Charter

A new program has been announced by an 11-party alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami demanding implementation of reforms according to the ‘July Charter’ and enforcement of the referendum result. Various programs will be held across the country from April 18 to May 2.

The program was announced on Thursday (16 April) at a press conference held at Al-Falah Auditorium near Jamaat’s central office in Moghbazar, Dhaka, by Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar.

The announced programs include a mass rally in Dhaka on April 18, rallies in divisional cities except Dhaka on April 25, and rallies in district towns on May 2. At the same time, leaflets and seminars will be organized in divisional and important district cities.

Earlier at 11 AM, a meeting of the top leaders of the 11-party alliance was held at the same venue. The meeting was called to decide the ongoing political situation and future strategy of the movement. The meeting was chaired by alliance leader and Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman.

Leaders from various parties attended the meeting, including National Citizen Party convener Nahid Islam, LDP President Colonel (Retd.) Oli Ahmed, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Ameer Maulana Mamunul Haque, AB Party General Secretary Asaduzzaman Fuad, and others.

In the press conference, Mia Golam Porwar said that implementing the referendum decision is their main demand to the government. He accused the government of not giving importance to the people’s verdict. He also demanded that the ‘July Charter’ be brought into a legal framework and included in the constitution.

He further said that after these programs, larger gatherings will be organized in city corporations and divisional cities, followed by a major rally in the capital where the next phase of programs will be announced.
