A mobile court has fined a filling station in Sadar South upazila of Cumilla Tk 40,000 following allegations of various irregularities. The investigation revealed complaints such as not supplying fuel to customers despite sufficient stock, selling at higher prices than fixed rates, and supplying fuel in unauthorized containers.

The fine was imposed on Lalmai Filling Station on Wednesday (15 April) at around 9 PM under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sajib Talukdar.

Officials from relevant departments and members of law enforcement agencies were also present during the operation. They observed the activities of the filling station and found evidence of various irregularities.

The executive magistrate said that these offenses are punishable under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009. In particular, selling fuel at higher than fixed prices and supplying fuel in risky or unauthorized containers are violations of consumer rights.

He further said that such drives will continue in the public interest, and strict action will be taken against any institution that violates rules.
