Hamidur Rahman Azad, Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary-General and parliamentary candidate for Cox’s Bazar-2 (Maheshkhali-Kutubdia), said that voting rights cannot be taken away through violence, intimidation, or suppression.
During a public campaign in Maheshkhali Municipality on Sunday, he expressed concern over the current political situation. He said that people are now aware and can unite to resist injustice and oppression.
Azad criticized the long-term governance for failing to deliver promised development, citing economic mismanagement, improper resource use, and poor governance. He stressed that the lack of honesty is the root of these failures.
During the campaign, he also promised the local community to restore dilapidated Hindu temples, improve crematorium facilities, and address other local issues. Maheshkhali South Jamaat leaders, including Amir Shamim Iqbal and Secretary Abdur Rahim, participated.
