Two Fined BDT 100,000 Each for Illegal Hill Cutting in Khagrachhari

In the Sabujbagh area of Khagrachhari Sadar Upazila, two individuals, Md. Akhtar Hossain and Md. Sahab Ali, have been fined BDT 100,000 each, totaling BDT 200,000, for illegally cutting a hill. The fines were imposed today during a mobile court operation by the Upazila Executive Officer, Sujon Chandra Roy.

Sujon Chandra Roy stated that the accused cut a section of a hill approximately 50 feet high without permission for house construction purposes. Under the Sand and Soil Management Act 2010, failure to pay the fines will result in a one-month imprisonment for each offender.
