Two Arrested Including Jubo Dal Leader Over Alleged Gang Rape in Sonargaon

Police have arrested two individuals, including a local leader of Jubo Dal, in connection with the alleged gang rape of a woman in Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj. The incident has sparked widespread concern and outrage in the area, and a case has been filed against the accused.

According to police sources, the victim lived with her family in a rented house in the Sirab area of Jampur Union. As stated in the case filed with police, the woman was allegedly abducted by several individuals while working in the kitchen of her residence on the afternoon of June 10. She was then reportedly taken to a secluded room, where she was subjected to sexual assault.

Following the incident, the victim informed her husband about what had happened. With the assistance of family members, she later submitted a written complaint to the police, prompting an investigation.

Acting on the complaint, police conducted a raid on Friday night and arrested two suspects. Police confirmed that one of the detainees is a local leader of Jubo Dal. Legal proceedings against the accused are currently underway.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Sarwar of Sonargaon Police Station stated that police launched an investigation immediately after receiving the complaint and treated the matter with utmost importance. He said that two suspects had been arrested and that other aspects of the case were also being examined.

The OC further noted that anyone else found to be involved in the incident would also be brought under the law. Authorities have taken steps to ensure necessary medical treatment and legal assistance for the victim.

The incident has generated anger among local residents, who have demanded an impartial investigation and swift justice for those responsible.

Police said the investigation is continuing and that further legal action will be taken based on its findings.
