Israeli airstrikes continue across several areas of southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire brokered by the United States. According to local sources and Lebanon’s state news agency NNA, at least four people were killed in the latest attacks.

Reports indicate that one person was killed in an airstrike on the town of Maarakeh in the Tyre district. At the same time, Ali Badiyeh, the mayor of Ar-Rihan municipality in the Jezzine region, was also killed in a separate Israeli strike.

Two more people lost their lives in another airstrike in Deir Al-Zahrani in the Nabatieh district. The attack reportedly destroyed a residential building.

Lebanese media reported that continuous airstrikes targeted multiple towns and villages throughout southern Lebanon from Friday morning until evening. Some of the strikes reportedly occurred north of the so-called “Yellow Line” designated by Israeli forces.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military has ordered residents of at least 20 towns and villages in southern Lebanon to evacuate immediately and move north of the Litani River. Reports also indicate that buildings have been demolished in certain areas.

The escalation comes as discussions continue regarding a possible agreement between the United States and Iran aimed at reducing regional tensions. Analysts warn that developments in Lebanon could complicate these diplomatic efforts.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun described the country as standing at a “critical and decisive crossroads.” He emphasized that the state must establish exclusive control over weapons and maintain law and order, warning that otherwise Lebanon would continue to be influenced by militia politics.

The Israeli military also reported a security alert following what it described as a “dangerous drone infiltration” near the northern Israeli town of Metula, although no specific group was identified.

Experts believe that continued attacks and retaliatory tensions despite the ceasefire are increasing instability across the Middle East and raising the risk of a broader regional conflict.
