U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met for the fourth time at the White House on Monday. The meeting is considered crucial as it focuses on the ongoing two-year conflict in Gaza and the governance of the region, which has been reduced to rubble.

A day earlier, Trump posted in all caps on his platform “Truth Social,” promising “major change” and “something special” in the Middle East. He noted that several opportunities for ending the war have arisen recently.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu told U.S. media outlet Fox News that Israel is working closely with the United States to implement the plan effectively.

During the UN General Assembly (UNGA), a 21-point proposal was presented to leaders of Arab and Muslim countries, referred to as the post-war “Day After” plan. According to the proposal, Hamas must release the remaining 48 prisoners—of whom approximately 20 are believed to be alive—within two days. The proposal also includes offering Hamas fighters the chance to leave Gaza or surrender in exchange for amnesty. Additionally, the plan outlines access for humanitarian aid, the release of some Palestinian prisoners, and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces.

However, Hamas has stated that it has not yet received any formal proposal through Egypt or Qatar. The organization said it would consider a new proposal if presented. Meanwhile, the al-Qassam Brigades reported that due to intensified Israeli ground and air operations, they have lost contact with the group holding two Israeli prisoners in Gaza City.

Analysts believe that the plan may conflict with the main positions of Netanyahu’s far-right coalition government, as it leaves open the possibility of a future Palestinian state—a stance opposed by Israel’s current ruling factions.

With daily bombings and attacks killing numerous civilians in Gaza, international pressure for a ceasefire and lasting resolution is steadily increasing.
