The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has reduced the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and autogas for consumers. The announcement was made in a press release on Sunday, August 3, and will take effect from Sunday evening.
According to BERC, the price of a 12 kg LPG cylinder has been reduced by 91 taka, now set at 1,273 taka. Previously, on July 2, the price was reduced by 39 taka to 1,364 taka.
Similarly, the price of autogas used in the transportation sector has been reduced by 4.18 taka per litre, with the new price fixed at 58.28 taka per litre. Earlier in July, the autogas price was cut by 1.84 taka to 62.46 taka per litre.
This new LPG price applies only to gas sold in the private sector. The price of subsidized LPG supplied to government institutions is not affected by this change.
Experts believe that this price reduction decision has come in the context of a decrease in international LPG prices and fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate, bringing relief to consumers.
