BRAC University has temporarily suspended a student named Mehedi Hasan Abhi for repeatedly exhibiting aggressive and disruptive behavior toward fellow students and faculty. The university’s Proctor’s Office issued a notice on Monday (August 18) announcing this action.

According to the notice, during the ‘EEE309’ course, the student repeatedly engaged in disruptive behavior toward teachers and classmates. Allegations against him include recording lectures without permission, disturbing the lecture environment, and physically assaulting peers. The university’s policies state that such behavior poses a threat to the safety and dignity of the community.

The notice further states that the student has been immediately suspended from all classes and is prohibited from entering the campus until further notice.

Sources from the university said that the Summer 2025 semester ‘EEE309’ course is conducted by Dr. Touhidur Rahman of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. During classes, Mehedi Hasan was involved in shouting, kicking doors, threatening the teacher, recording lectures without permission, and physically attacking fellow students.

A classmate, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “Once he entered the classroom, held a phone near Dr. Rahman’s face, and started shouting. His language and behavior were terrifying, like a street thug.”

Other students present in the class reported that on August 17, during a lecture on “Diffusion,” Mehedi Hasan tried to break Dr. Rahman’s personal flute and physically harassed classmates Fardin Rahman, Sanjid Ahmed, and Nusrat Jahan. The entire incident was captured on the campus CCTV cameras.

The university administration has stated that it will verify the incident’s authenticity and take further action accordingly.
