In Rangunia Upazila of Chittagong, a severe house fire broke out in the middle of the night, destroying furniture and essential household items worth approximately 2.5 million Taka.
The fire occurred late Tuesday night in Ward No. 4 of Betagi Union, Madhya Betagi village, Rangunia Upazila. A fire service unit arrived at the scene after receiving the alert and, after prolonged effort, managed to control the blaze. Other nearby houses were saved from major damage.
According to locals, the affected house was jointly owned by four brothers—Abu Taher (65), Md. Ibrahim (62), Md. Israil (55), and Abu Mohammad (70). Furniture, clothing, cooking utensils, and other valuable items inside the house were completely destroyed by the fire.
The fire service suspects that the fire may have started from the kitchen or due to an electrical short circuit. However, the exact cause is under investigation. No casualties were reported, but the affected families are facing severe hardship and have requested urgent government and local assistance.
