Selina Jetly Returns to India, Leaves Abusive Marriage to Save Brother

Bollywood actress Selina Jetly shared a deeply personal story. In a recent interview, she revealed that upon learning her brother Vikrant was in danger, she abruptly left her abusive marriage in Austria to return to India—a decision that changed the course of her life.

In an interview with PTI, Selina said that a phone call on 29 September last year initially seemed insignificant. While in Austria, she learned late at night that her brother had been detained in the UAE. She initially thought it might be a prank or exaggeration. It took almost an hour for her to understand the severity of the situation. She then had to make one of the toughest decisions of her life.

Selina openly admitted that she was undergoing severe mental and physical distress. She described her marriage as abusive, with daily mistreatment. She said that with children, one often suppresses personal suffering to maintain the relationship, especially when parents are absent and financial security is limited.

Her brother’s detention became the ultimate turning point. Realizing she could not protect him legally or mentally from Austria, she booked a ticket with her credit card despite having little cash and returned to India around 1 a.m. She consciously ensured that her children were shielded from the crisis.

Selina, who has been away from acting for a long time, has sparked renewed discussion in Bollywood by sharing her struggles. Her story highlights that behind the glitz, celebrities face deep pain, tough choices, and solitary struggles.
