Asha Bhosle herself selected her top 10 songs

Veteran Indian singer Asha Bhosle has been active in the music industry for more than eight decades. During her long career, she has sung over 12,000 songs covering dance numbers, romantic songs, pop, and classical genres.

Among her vast collection of popular songs, selecting the top 10 is difficult, but in an interview she herself revealed her favorite songs list.

At the top are two songs from the film “Umrao Jaan”—“Yeh Kya Jagah Hai Doston” and “In Aankhon Ki Masti Ke”. Composed by Khayyam, these songs were sung in a low voice, giving them a deep and mysterious tone.

In second place is “Jhoothe Naina” from the film “Lekin”, composed by Hridaynath Mangeshkar. This song was challenging due to its classical complexity. Most songs in the film were sung by her sister Lata Mangeshkar.

Her third favorite song is “Kaali Ghata Chhaye” from the film “Sujata”, composed by S. D. Burman.

Other songs on the list include “Aye Meherbaan” from “Howrah Bridge”, “Shokh Nazar Ki Bijliyan” from “O Kaun Thi”, “Roz Roz Aankhon Tale” from “Jeeva”, and “Chain Se Humko Kabhi” from “Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye”, known for its emotional depth.
