Shadow of grief over the death of Asha Bhosle

The death of legendary singer Asha Bhosle has cast a deep shadow of grief over the music world of the Indian subcontinent. She passed away in Mumbai at the age of 92. Her death has prompted tributes not only from music lovers but also from people across various fields.

During this mourning period, former athlete and national sports organizer Bashir Ahmed shared a personal memory with her, which has gained renewed attention.

He recalled that while attending a SAF Games-related meeting in Madras, he visited India’s famous saree shop ‘Nalli’, where he unexpectedly met Asha Bhosle. During their conversation, he sought her help in selecting a saree for his wife, which she gladly agreed to.

He added that her simplicity and warm behavior deeply impressed him. Even today, her courteous and friendly manner during that brief interaction remains unforgettable.

He also mentioned that the saree chosen that day was later worn by his wife at a family event, making the memory even more special.

After hearing the news of her passing, those memories resurfaced vividly. He said even her simple words continue to move him deeply.

He concluded by praying for the peace of the legendary artist’s soul, whose contributions to music will remain eternal.
