The Argentina national football team, the current world champions, has started preparations with the goal of retaining their title once again. The Albiceleste have already submitted a preliminary squad of 55 players. Now they are waiting for the announcement of the final 26-man squad, which will be decided by head coach Lionel Scaloni.

In an interview with CONMEBOL on Friday, Scaloni said that the World Cup is always a very difficult competition. He noted that success does not come only from playing good football; rather, many aspects must be managed properly. He stated that Argentina, as always, will enter the tournament with the goal of winning the title.

Reflecting on the 2022 World Cup victory, Scaloni said that close communication with players and proper planning played a crucial role in the team’s success. He explained that the coaching staff focus more on giving short and necessary instructions instead of unnecessary information to the players.

Scaloni also spoke about the future of Argentina captain Lionel Messi. Many believe this could be Messi’s last World Cup, but the Argentine coach said he does not want to think about that right now.

Scaloni said that watching Messi play is a special joy for football fans. He wants Messi to continue playing football for a longer time. At the same time, referring to legendary Diego Maradona, he said that when great players retire, it becomes an emotional moment for the football world.

Under Scaloni, Argentina has already won two Copa América titles and one Finalissima along with the World Cup. Therefore, the team is considered one of the strongest contenders for the next World Cup as well.
