Rishabh Shetty’s Kannada film Kantara: Chapter 1 continues to dominate the box office even two weeks after its release. The film is still earning huge numbers, and according to Sacnilk data, it earned ₹17 crore in India last Sunday (19 October), surpassing the ₹500 crore milestone.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is the prequel to the 2022 hit film Kantara. Following the unique success of the first film, audience expectations were sky-high, and Rishabh Shetty has exceeded them. The movie is a strong period action drama blending history, myth, and folklore, showcasing Rishabh’s directing and acting skills.

In just 18 days, the Kannada film has reached the ₹500 crore milestone, joining the ranks of films like Baahubali 2, KGF 2, and Jailer.

Kantara: Chapter 1 has not only been successful in Karnataka but also in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, earning ₹50 crore across these four states—a historic achievement for a Kannada film. Currently, the film’s total collection stands at ₹524.15 crore. Experts believe this is a historic moment not just commercially but also for South Indian culture and mythology-based cinema.

Additionally, the Hindi version of Kantara has also performed exceptionally well. On its 18th day, it earned ₹200 crore in Hindi, surpassing many previous South Indian hits. In Telugu-speaking states, the film has earned over ₹100 crore, and it holds a strong position among the newly released films in Tamil Nadu.

From next Tuesday, Kantara will face competition at the box office from Thamma and Ek Diwane Ki Diwaniat, particularly in the North Indian market. However, analysts predict that the new installment of Kantara could earn at least another ₹200 crore.
