In the first seven days of October, overseas Bangladeshis sent a total of $692 million in remittances to Bangladesh, averaging approximately $98.8 million per day.
Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan confirmed this information on Wednesday (October 8). He stated that during the same period last year, remittances totaled $683 million, indicating a slight increase in remittance inflows at the start of the current year.
On October 7 alone, $141 million was sent to the country. From the start of the 2024-25 fiscal year up to October 7, a total of $8.278 billion in remittances has been received, which is 14.60% higher than the same period last year.
Previously, remittances totaled $2.685 billion in September, $2.421 billion in August, and $2.478 billion in July.
For the entire 2024-25 fiscal year, total remittances are projected to reach $30.32 billion (Tk 3,032.8 crore), setting a record for the highest remittance inflow in a single fiscal year in Bangladesh’s history.
