PNN News Desk, Chittagong:
A severe fire in the Nazurpara area of Hochonabad Union, Rangunia Upazila, Chittagong, completely destroyed five houses. The incident occurred on Tuesday (17 February) around noon.

According to locals, the fire originated from a stove in one of the houses’ kitchens. Due to dry weather and the combustible materials in the houses, the fire spread rapidly. Within a short time, the fire engulfed adjacent houses, creating widespread panic in the area.

Fire service and civil defense personnel reached the scene and, with the help of locals, managed to control the fire. However, before the fire could be extinguished, all five houses were completely destroyed.

The affected include a permanent house owned by Khorshed Alam and four semi-permanent houses belonging to Maulana Khorshed Alam, Shohor Ali, Ahmad Ali, and Nurul Haque. The fire destroyed furniture, clothing, and daily necessities, leaving families facing severe financial losses.

One affected resident said that everything was destroyed within moments, and now they are worried just about having a place to stay. Local representatives and residents have urged authorities to support the affected families. Relevant authorities are reportedly working to assess the damage and provide necessary assistance.
