Tension over the Strait of Hormuz, Trump warns of rapid reopening

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy shipping route, has once again come into focus. Former US President Donald Trump has said that the route will soon be reopened “with or without Iran’s cooperation.”

He said the United States and its allies are ready to normalize maritime movement in the Gulf region and will take action independently if necessary. According to Trump, “We will open the Gulf, it will not take long.”

However, he did not specify how this strategic waterway would be reopened.

The Strait of Hormuz, which is the main route for transporting oil and gas from the Persian Gulf to international markets, is currently effectively blocked, according to several international sources. This has created significant pressure on global energy supply.

Trump accused Iran of attempting to introduce a “toll system” in the waterway to charge ships for passage, warning that the United States would not accept such a situation.

He also said that in any possible peace deal, Iran not possessing nuclear weapons would be the most important condition. According to him, resolving this issue would automatically reduce other problems.

Meanwhile, despite ceasefire announcements, maritime movement in the Strait of Hormuz has not returned to normal. Recent shipping data shows that only a limited number of vessels have been able to pass through the route in recent days, compared to more than a hundred ships daily in the past.

Analysts say many ships are currently stuck in the Gulf and the situation remains unstable. Some experts say limited shipping is occurring through Iran-approved routes.

In this situation, new discussions between the United States and Iran are ongoing, but uncertainty remains regarding how effective they will be in resolving the crisis.
