Protesters demolish Awami League office with bulldozer in Rajshahi over Hadi murder

In Rajshahi, widespread protests continued late into the night demanding justice for the death of Sharif Osman Hadi. During the protests, enraged demonstrators used a bulldozer to demolish the office of the banned Rajshahi Metropolitan Awami League.

The demolition began around 12:30 AM on Thursday night at the office located in Kumarpara area. The building was completely destroyed by 4 AM. Earlier in the evening, marches took place in multiple areas, including Saheb Bazar Zero Point and Rajshahi University campus, organized by July Front and NCP activists. Protesters demanded justice for the murder, an end to political suppression, and opposition to hegemony.

Before the protest, GS Salauddin Amma of Rajshahi University Central Student Council (RAKSU) posted on social media urging residents and students to join the streets. The protests intensified around 11:30 PM at Saheb Bazar Zero Point, eventually moving to the Awami League office at Kumarpara, where the bulldozer was used.

No official statement was immediately available from law enforcement. Protests in various districts of the country continue over Hadi’s murder, and further actions are expected.
