Zimbabwean pacer Blessing Muzarabani has been banned for two years by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for leaving the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to join the Indian Premier League (IPL). The decision was announced on Tuesday (April 14) through a press release.

Muzarabani was initially signed by PSL franchise Islamabad United as a replacement for Caribbean pacer Shamar Joseph. However, he later chose to leave the PSL after receiving an offer from IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.

Although he went unsold in the IPL auction, he was later included in the Kolkata squad to fill a vacancy. PCB considered his move a breach of contract, as he joined another league while still contracted with PSL.

The PCB disciplinary committee investigated the matter before imposing the ban. As a result, Muzarabani will not be able to participate in PSL or any domestic tournaments in Pakistan for the next two seasons.

Previously, South African pacer Corbin Bosch faced a similar punishment, receiving a one-year ban for leaving PSL to join IPL.

Meanwhile, other players such as Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka and Australia’s Spencer Johnson also left PSL to join IPL, though no official decision has yet been announced regarding them.
