International Desk | PNN:
The future of the ceasefire in Gaza is now facing extreme uncertainty. On Wednesday, in one of Israel’s deadliest attacks, over a hundred Palestinians were killed in a single day, most of them women and children. The incident has caused the people of Gaza to lose faith in the ceasefire.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that the ceasefire remains “firm and effective.” However, the mediating country Qatar expressed concern, though they remain hopeful about the “next phase of the peace process.”

Gaza’s Civil Defense reported that in the past week, they conducted 197 rescue and fire-fighting operations. Yesterday alone, over a hundred people, including 46 children, were killed in the attacks. Rescue teams said many families remain trapped under rubble, and a lack of adequate equipment is hampering rescue efforts.

Since Wednesday morning, Israeli forces carried out new airstrikes in southern Lebanon, targeting Mahmudieh and Jarmak areas. The Lebanese state news agency reported that casualties from the attacks are not yet confirmed. Israel claimed that the strikes targeted “Hezbollah facilities.”

At the same time, Israeli forces conducted overnight operations in Blida, southern Lebanon. Lebanese state media reported that one municipal worker was killed during the operation. Israel claimed the building was used by Hezbollah but has provided no evidence.

On Thursday morning, the roar of Israeli drones was heard over Beirut. Locals reported that the Israeli “Hermes 450” drone flew over the city for an extended period. Such airspace violations have now become almost a daily occurrence.

Professor Zaidon Alkinani from Georgetown University in Qatar said the ceasefire is effectively “on the verge of collapse.” He noted, “Israel is buying time so that U.S. attention shifts elsewhere while they continue occupation and colonization processes.”

He added, “The question is when the U.S. will rein in Israel. If it does not, the ceasefire will remain only on paper.”

Gaza City journalist Hani Mahmoud reported, “The entire city is now engulfed in fear and uncertainty. People are holding their breath, waiting for the next explosion.”

He added, “Drones in the sky, occasional gunfire—everything reminds us that the ceasefire here is just a fragile promise.
