Not a Divorce, Just a Misunderstanding: Mahi Clarifies Announcement Made in Anger

About a year and a half ago, actress Mahi Mahia had stated that she had divorced her politician husband Rakib Sarkar. However, Mahi recently clarified that they have not divorced and that her previous announcement was made in a moment of anger.

Mahi initially married Silhet businessman Parvez Mahmud Opuk in 2016. After five years of marriage, she married Rakib Sarkar in 2021. In October 2024, Mahi had announced her separation from Rakib, stating to the media, "It’s better to maintain friendship than stay together because Rakib is a very caring father and attentive towards Faris."

Recently, Mahi posted a picture with Rakib that caused confusion among many. Explaining the post, Mahi said, "The photo was taken in India but was not published at the time. Now, since Wikipedia mentions that we are divorced, I posted it to clear up the misunderstanding. Our passports also state ‘married.’"

She further stated, "We communicate regularly and our relationship is good."

Following Mahi’s clarification, many of her fans and people in the entertainment industry were surprised. Some speculate that Mahi may have applied for US citizenship, which might have prompted such a strategy.

Mahi has also announced her role in a new film titled ‘Ontorjami’, produced by Jazz Multimedia, in which she will play the lead character.
