New Steps for Financial Transparency and Journalist Training at ERF Institute

Economic Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed has remarked that Bangladesh’s image abroad has improved. He made the comment during a seminar titled “Transparency in the Financial Sector” organized by the Economic Reporters’ Forum (ERF) on Monday (April 29) in Paltan, Dhaka.

Dr. Salehuddin said, “The caretaker government is working with its share of strengths and weaknesses, but Bangladesh’s reputation abroad is very positive.” He also warned that money launderers are extremely “smart,” using various companies to manipulate income and expenses to carry out illicit transfers.

During the seminar, former Commerce Secretary Shubhashish Basu emphasized the importance of verifying and selecting information before publication. Later, Economic Adviser Dr. Salehuddin inaugurated the ERF Institute, which will focus on training journalists and enhancing their skills.
