New Guidelines for Recruitment of Officers and Staff at DU

To ensure a transparent process for recruiting skilled and qualified officers and staff (3rd and 4th grade), the University of Dhaka has formulated new guidelines.

On Tuesday (March 10), the university's Public Relations Office issued a statement saying that based on the recommendations of a committee formed during the Syndicate meeting held on November 13, 2024, a decision regarding this was taken at the Syndicate meeting held on September 25 last year.

According to the decision:

• Direct recruitment for 5th grade and above: Whether a written and practical exam will be conducted will be determined by the selection board.

• If a practical exam is not required, the selection will be based on 75% marks for the written exam and 25% for the oral exam.

• According to the committee, for technical positions, it is appropriate to conduct written, practical, and oral exams.

For direct recruitment in this grade:

• Written Exam: 40%

• Practical Exam: 30%

• Oral Exam: 30%

However, if a practical exam is not required for a position, the exam can be conducted based on 70% written and 30% oral marks.

For both technical and non-technical positions in this grade:

• Written: 40%

• Practical: 30%

• Oral: 30%

In this grade, written and oral exams will be mandatory for direct recruitment. The written exam marks can be set at a maximum of 30%. If necessary, the selection board will decide on the conduction of a practical exam.

Candidates scoring at least 40% in the written exam may be called for the oral exam in a ratio of five times the number of available positions, based on merit.

Candidates working in government, semi-government, or autonomous organizations must submit their applications through the appropriate authority or head of the office. Otherwise, their applications will not be accepted.

According to the administration, the new guidelines will make the recruitment process at the university more transparent, competitive, and merit-based.
