In the 2022 Preliminary (Master’s) examinations under the National University, 25 students from Victoria Government College in Comilla have been punished for malpractice. In total, 83 students from various institutions across the country have been subjected to disciplinary action.

On Wednesday, a notice signed by the Controller of Examinations, Md. Enamul Karim, stated this decision. According to university sources, the Exam Discipline Committee reviewed reports submitted by in-charge officers, supervisors, and examiners from various centers before making this decision.

Most of the students were punished under Clause ‘G,’ resulting in the cancellation of their exam for the relevant academic year. In some cases, along with canceling the exam results, students are also barred from participating in the next year’s exams.

The punished students include those from departments such as Political Science, Islamic History and Culture, Sociology, Social Work, Economics, Accounting, and Management, as well as students from Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and Mathematics.

Gazi Muhammad Golam Sohrab Hasan, Secretary of the college teachers’ council, stated that disciplinary actions were taken according to university rules against students who resorted to malpractice.

The university authorities noted that such monitoring and disciplinary measures will continue in the future to maintain the transparency and discipline of examinations.
