Dhaka – The National Consensus Commission has begun the process of incorporating amendments into the consolidated draft of the July Charter after reviewing the opinions of political parties. The commission stated that objections and suggestions received from parties regarding the implementation commitments of the charter are being reflected in the draft.
Yesterday, Wednesday, these issues were reviewed at a meeting held at the commission’s office in the National Parliament House. The commission has announced that it will hold another meeting on this matter today, Thursday. Once the meeting is finalized, direct discussions with political parties regarding the implementation of the charter will begin next week.
The National Consensus Commission noted that after assuming responsibility, the interim government initiated reforms in various sectors of the state. In the first phase, six reform commissions were formed (Constitution, Election System, Public Administration, Anti-Corruption Commission, Police, and Judicial Reform Commission). These commissions prepared 84 reform proposals, which were discussed with political parties in two phases from February to July to reach consensus and decisions.
The July National Charter is being drafted based on these proposals, aiming to strengthen and make the administrative and constitutional framework of the state more effective. The commission is optimistic that the revised draft will reflect the maximum opinions of the political parties.
