The National Citizens Party (NCP) has officially received its registration certificate from the Election Commission. NCP convener Nahid Islam received the certificate. The assigned symbol for this election is ‘Shapla Kali.’
The information was confirmed by Nahid Islam after a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner at the Election Commission in Agargaon, Dhaka. He appreciated the amendment of the Representation of the People Order (RPO) and condemned attempts to obstruct the election process through government pressure or courts.
Nahid Islam highlighted the tireless efforts of central and grassroots leaders and stated that after overcoming many challenges, the party has finally been allocated a symbol. NCP will participate in the election under the ‘Shapla Kali’ symbol.
NCP leaders urged the Election Commission to allow every party to contest under their own symbol. Nahid Islam alleged that certain parties are trying to influence the process using government pressure and courts.
The party also expressed concern about excessive influence of money and power in elections and called for verification of candidate affidavits, action against illegal campaign funds, and prevention of political influence in district administration and police transfers. They urged the Commission to ensure accurate information dissemination and voting awareness and to strictly monitor false or misleading information.
NCP chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, joint conveners Khaled Saifullah, and joint secretary Zahidul Islam were also present. The party later posted the registration certificate on its verified Facebook page, expressing gratitude to the nation.
