Conspiracy underway to undermine moderation and liberal democracy, national unity essential – BNP Secretary General
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary General of the BNP, has stated that there is a conspiracy to replace moderation and liberal democracy in the country with extremist politics, which would be extremely harmful for Bangladesh.
He made this comment at the book launch of Raktakta July by Syeda Fatema Salam, held on Friday at the Abdus Salam Hall of the National Press Club.
In his speech, Mirza Fakhrul said, “Everyone must work unitedly to establish liberal democracy. Elections must take place and be completed within the scheduled time. If elections are blocked, the nation will suffer greatly, and the possibility of fascism returning will increase.”
He further stated that all reforms in Bangladesh have been carried out under the BNP. Warning party leaders and activists, he emphasized the need to work in unity to protect the party’s reputation and show strong leadership to the people.
Mahadi Amin, advisor to BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, was present as the main speaker at the event. Other speakers included Abdus Salam, advisor to the BNP chairman, DAB President Professor Jahanara Laizu, and several other party leaders.
