Abul Ahsan Jabu has resigned from his position as Joint Coordinator of the Sylhet District Coordination Committee of the National Citizens Party (NCP). He is the elder brother of martyr journalist A.T.M. Turab, who was killed last July during a mass uprising in Bandar Bazar, Sylhet, when police opened fire.
Confirming his resignation around 11:45 PM on Thursday night, Jabu stated that due to personal and family commitments, he is unable to dedicate sufficient time to party activities. Therefore, he submitted his resignation letter to the district chief coordinator.
In his resignation letter, he mentioned that given the current situation, it is not possible for him to fulfill his responsibilities within the party, and thus he is voluntarily stepping down from all positions.
When asked about this, Nazim Uddin Shahan, Chief Coordinator of Sylhet District NCP, said that Jabu has verbally expressed his intent to resign but has not yet submitted a written resignation. A meeting will be held soon to discuss the matter.
On June 18, Jabu was appointed as Joint Coordinator in the 31-member Sylhet District and 21-member Metropolitan Committee of the NCP. This committee was published as a verified list signed by the party’s central leaders on the official NCP Facebook page.
